Delphi is a powerful programming language and integrated development environment (IDE) that supports rapid application development (RAD) for various platforms. It offers two kinds of frameworks – the VCL and the Firemonkey. For Windows application development or for those who are solely targeting the Windows platform, VCL would be an excellent choice of framework. This powerful and comprehensive framework, however, works only with Windows and Windows alone.

If you want to make an app that works on almost all platforms, including Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, or Linux, you need to work with the FireMonkey framework. To do so, you need to choose the multi-device application option from RAD Studio’s welcome page. Unlike Delphi VCL, the strength of FireMonkey comes from its cross-platform capabilities. Generally, this UI framework is designed to allow developers to create user interfaces that run across multiple platforms.

Step-by-Step Process of Creating a Real Android App

In previous Coding Bootcamps, we have learned that there are so many things that you can do with the Firemonkey framework in Delphi. There is even a webinar showcasing not just one but 100 working samples of cross-platform applications that are built using FireMonkey. Most of which are made to run for Android devices and this is exactly what we are about to learn in this webinar.

Neste vídeo, Ian Barker will take us back to the basics. Here, he will demonstrate a step-by-step procedure for creating a real and functioning Android application using the Delphi Firemonkey framework. This means that this tutorial will start from the very scratch. Here, we will see how you can utilize RAD studio’s easy-to-use drag-and-drop coding environment and how a blank form visual designer can turn into a real working Android application.
