It is interesting to note that Delphi offers a great number of options that allow users to build games from scratch. Whether you want to create a 2D game, a 3D, or a mixture of both, Delphi users can take advantage of third-party game engines. One of the top choices today is the Castle Game Engine. In this video from DelphiCon 2023 earlier this year, Michalis Kamburelis is back to help us further understand Castle Game Engine as well as some of the new features that users can expect from its upcoming 7.0-alpha 3 version.
What is Castle Game Engine?
Castle Game Engine is an open-source cross-platform 3D and 2D game engine supporting many asset formats such as glTF, X3D, Spine JSON, Collada, 3DS, MD3, and more. Interestingly, Delphi is one of its supported IDE Software where it can be used to develop a proprietary or open-source game and is also a cross-platform that supports operating systems like Windows, Linux, macOS, and mobile platforms like Android, iOS, as well as different consoles. In this video, Michalis Kamburelis will, once again, walk us through the Castle Engine.
Michalis will introduce us to all the new features of Castle Engine, particularly for the upcoming 7.0alpha3 release. The upcoming version comes with a great number of big features including newly added physics components, upgraded support for shadows, support for Tiled map components, and many more. Michalis will also demonstrate each feature in this video to help us understand how each works using Delphi. The video also concludes with a Q&A session with Michalis and Jim Mckeeth to address questions from the viewers.
