Having the best User Interface design is important and beneficial for both the developer and the end-user. Whether it is a part of a Windows application development or a cross-platform application, having a good user interface design contributes to a positive user experience. Interestingly, Delphi is a versatile programming language that allows you to use a great number of third-party libraries to level up your application and make them more visually appealing. One of which is the Skia4Delphi, a cross-platform 2D graphics API for Delphi.
What is Skia4Delphi?
In this video from the recently concluded Coding Boot Camp 2022, Ian Barker will introduce us to Skia4Delphi and the things you can possibly do from this powerful free-to-access library. Generally, Skia4Delphi is based on Google Skia or simply Skia, an open-source graphics engine for Google Chrome, and other platforms like Android, Firefox, Flutter, and many others. Skia4Delphi, on the other hand, is a fast-moving project brought by the Barbosa brothers from Brazil. It was also hailed as a Delphi Award Winner in 2021.
Skia4Delphi is a cross-platform 2D graphics API for Delphi platforms based on Google’s Skia Graphics Library. It is a free-to-access library that provides major components/controls like TSkLottieAnimation, TSkPaintBox, and TSkSvg. There are many notable things you can do with Skia4Delphi. Included in its package is the TSkAnimatedImage that allows you to play Lottie, Telegram Stickers, animated GIFs, and animated webP. It also includes TSkLabel which allows you to have multiple styles in text, font-weight, justify alignment, limit max lines, auto-size width and length, advanced decorations, and more.
Other noteworthy features include TskPaintbox which allows you to use OnDraw event to draw with Skia API directly on control. TSkSVG, on the other hand, allows you to load a large number of SVGs and many others. Ian Barker will also demonstrate how to use and enable Skia and apply it to an application. The video will also highlight various samples that will showcase Skia4Delphi’s capabilities. To learn more about this powerful library, feel free to watch the video below.
